Periodontics
The dental professionals in our Periodontal Department specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease. Along with other dental professionals, they may perform dental implant surgery to replace lost or missing teeth. Periodontology is a branch of dentistry dedicated to treating the tissue and bones surrounding and supporting the teeth. Upon completion of dental school, Periodontists continue their education for three years to obtain a postdoctoral certificate in Periodontics. During this special training, Periodontists learn the latest methods for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease and gain a knowledge of all aspects of this potentially destructive disease.
